What a perfect Sunday! Since I had the change to attend the Latin Mass at St. Anthony's I went for it! Oh the beauty of it all. Pope Benedict XVI has now called the Traditional Latin Mass, the Extraordinary Form of the Roman Rite.
It is so rich with spiritual significance of every element of the Holy Sacrifice of the Altar"-

After Mass I joined some parishioners for coffee & cake. A big robust "Patty, what are you doing here?" Just for an instant, I was a little embarrassed. I did enjoy the company of old friends and making new ones. My friend gave me some 'food for thought' as I continue to serve as a Sedgwick County Jail volunteer. I sure love how God brings insight in so many ways!
Finally...late in the afternoon....I baked that 'apple/pear pie' and it turned out so good that I was even impressed LOL. The farm house smelled wonderful and I savored it all. One of my favorite things about our old farm house is how the kitchen aromas travel right up the stairs to our 2nd floor. Really...I know exactly when a cake is ready to pull from the oven just by the smell. Today however, vivid memories flooded my mind of my Mother's cooking. Oh miss her so much. She was a most wonderful Christian lady and a fantastic cook who enjoyed following recipes down to the final measurement. I remember Mother wearing an apron. Maybe she was smiling down from Heaven at me yesterday...knowing that baking a pie was a BIG accomplishment for me. I sat right down to a slice after I took the photo. Umm...
My Sunday concluded with a wonderful prayer walk with Mocha watching the beautiful Sunset that God painted in the sky. Mocha was a bit surprised as he and I have gotten away from our once daily ritual walk. Benedict our beagle literally 'jumped for joy' as we headed out. I just know Benedict finds it humorous that Mocha is on a leash and he is free. Benedict is our 'Wonder Dog.'
